How 2,000 lines of ActionScript got me a job in New York – Flash portfolio (RIP)
In 2009, I built my first portfolio website entirely in code using ActionScript and XML. Every layout element adapted dynamically to the browser window size—something quite ambitious to realize at the time with Flash. The site’s theme also changed automatically from light to dark depending on the user’s local time.
In 2010, I sent my portfolio to hundreds of studios in New York and San Francisco while still living in Strasbourg and barely speaking English. The project opened an incredible door: it helped me land my first job in New York in March 2011.
The Flash website got awarded by Design Licks and Dope, and featured in .NET Magazine #199, Webdesign Magazine #16 (France), Design Your Way, and Pixel Perfect Portfolios.
