Sparking collaboration mid-meeting – GenAI ✨ for Zoom Whiteboard

Research showed that people feel more engaged when they can edit the same document together. But after the first 30 minutes in a meeting, chances for the team to open a whiteboard are near zero. We needed a way to spark collaboration mid-meeting, without losing the thread or starting from scratch.

The idea

Generate Now ✨ turns what was just said (and shared) into a living whiteboard—in one click, right inside the meeting. It is not a “final” doc; it’s a starting point that invites everyone to jump in, edit, and push the conversation further.

How I made it collaborative (not “precious”)

• Lots of white space: I left topics blank to encourage users to fill them in
• Questions from topics: I turned meeting themes into simple prompts that pull people in
• Helpful examples: I prefilled a few answers from the discussion to show how to keep going
• Personal touches: I gave each participant their own stickies and space, so they feel welcomed
• A little fun: I added some emoji/avatars to lower the barrier to add the next idea

My role and impact

I framed the problem, got stakeholders aligned on a clear story, wrote a scenario, and ran workshops to explore rendering options. With my PM, I mapped v1 → v2 → v3 and tested early versions internally.

Final design

The feature launched to internal users with very positive feedback. I left just before alpha, but I’m proud of how the design encourages real, in-the-moment collaboration.
